As a Senior Principal leading the Corporate, Commercial & Civic markets for SmithGroup’s Chicago office, he blends strategy and design to deliver sophisticated commercial buildings, interiors, and mixed-use developments.

An established leader within the design community, Matt is deeply committed to mentorship and professional growth. He founded the AIA Chicago BRIDGE program in 2009, which has since become a national model for AIA mentorship initiatives. His passion for connecting people and ideas extends beyond the office, where he finds inspiration through travel and photography—pursuits that have taken him from Chicago to Kazakhstan and around the world.

Matt is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA), with expertise spanning commercial offices, corporate campuses, mixed-use and multifamily projects, and sustainable design.
